A Sanctuary Among Tea Fields
Perched against a backdrop of lush tea fields, Tea Hill House in Hangzhou offers a seamless blend of modern architecture and the natural beauty for which the region is famous. Hangzhou, renowned worldwide for its tea, serves as both the inspiration and setting for this unique residence, where each design decision reflects a deep respect for the surrounding landscape.Upon entering the house, one is greeted by the sophisticated balance of security and style. The entrance features CIVRO's XD65OU_AL outward-opening entrance door, paired with a large fixed glass panel that welcomes natural light while maintaining privacy. This blend of practicality and elegance makes the entryway both inviting and secure, a combination that the homeowner describes as “the perfect first impression—a door that feels solid, yet the light from the glass panels makes it feel warm and open.”The true heart of the home, however, lies in its living room, where the sweeping views of the tea plantation come into full focus. The design team selected a combination of XW65IN turn-and-tilt windows, combined with expansive corner-fixed glass panes, creating a visual and sensory connection to the outdoors. These windows allow for the gentle breeze and natural sounds of the landscape to flow in, offering both functionality and a sense of immersion in the tranquil environment.
“Sitting in the living room, it feels like the tea fields are part of our home. The windows allow the scenery to pour in, and when they’re open, the sound of nature completes the experience.”
Throughout the house, small, strategically placed fixed windows dot the upper walls, offering additional sources of natural light. These openings are a subtle yet effective way of bringing the outdoor environment indoors, ensuring every room is bathed in sunlight. This design choice doesn’t just meet aesthetic demands—it captures and celebrates the natural surroundings by letting light and shadow interact with the clean, minimalist interior. The house’s exterior, a study in simplicity, is coated in pure white, offering a sharp contrast to the verdant green tea fields. This understated palette is accentuated by CIVRO’s MED obsidian black frames, which add depth and a modern touch to the otherwise timeless design. The play of black and white is more than a visual choice; it’s a reflection of the house’s balance between modernity and nature. As one of the homeowners expressed, “The clean lines and the contrast between the white walls and black frames feel timeless—there’s a sense of purity and sophistication that we absolutely love.”Tea Hill House is a thoughtful response to its natural environment, blending cutting-edge design with the tranquility of Hangzhou’s tea fields. The architecture invites the landscape in, not merely as a backdrop but as an integral part of daily life. Through the clever use of CIVRO’s high-performance windows and doors, the designers have created a living space where nature and architecture are in constant dialogue, offering a modern sanctuary that feels perfectly at home amidst the beauty of Hangzhou's storied tea fields.
