“As designers, we solve problems within spaces. To meet the residents' environmental needs, we integrated the indoors and outdoors in this villa system. Acting as the link between these spaces, CIVRO doors and windows are minimalist in design. The diverse range of products frames the outdoor scenery like artwork, channeling dappled light and shadow into the home to enhance the function and aesthetic of each area. On the south side, fully enclosed floor-to-ceiling windows bring the living areas closer to nature, while the east-facing windows merge with light wells and architectural elements, painting the room with light.”
He settles into the sofa in the most comfortable way, watching through the large floor-to-ceiling window as his wife trims the flowers in the garden. His young daughter and the family dog run freely through the living room. The glow of the setting sun reflects off the sliding doors, stretching their shadows long across the floor... Each person enjoys their own space, while warm patches of light dance between them, streaming in from windows of various shapes.This minimalist-style villa in the Rose Garden of Greentown, Kunshan, is a dream come true for anyone caught in the hustle and bustle of urban life. Surrounded by nature, the three-story detached home features large expanses of doors and windows, creating a spacious and open environment.At the start of the project, the designer took a comprehensive look at the family’s structure, lifestyle, and stylistic preferences. The decision was made to simplify the space, breaking away from conventional designs. By incorporating outdoor corridors indoors and relocating the dining room to the basement, the design fosters a sense of intriguing interaction, allowing the space to exude a relaxed, natural atmosphere.Life close to nature is undeniably calming. “As designers, we solve problems within spaces. In the living room, the designer used clean color schemes and open vistas to provide a minimalist experience. The expansive openings, loft-like mezzanines, and understated structure are accentuated by the large doors and windows and cleverly concealed storage spaces. “We moved the dining room to the basement, leaving the first floor for the living room and an open bar area. The family can play games, drink tea, chat, and take in the view here. It's a place where warm moments, emotional connections, and intimate interactions naturally happen, which is exactly what we hoped to create.”For the private sanctuary of the bedroom, the designer employed clear lines to create an elegant and simple layout with a strong sense of geometric structure. The design emphasizes minimalism, bringing harmony and unity to the space's texture and style, offering a clean and refreshing yet warm and comfortable atmosphere.As a spiritual retreat, the study is meticulously organized, reflecting simplicity and a sense of balance. “While ensuring basic functionality, we wanted the space to offer mental relaxation as well. This window perfectly frames the outside view and lets in soft light, creating a calming space where one can sit idly, allowing the restless mind to find peace and the emotions to unwind.” This is precisely the meaning of home that the designer sought to convey.A home is a vessel for memories and stories, accommodating the needs of every individual while fostering interaction, sharing, and companionship. It brings the family closer to nature. Looking ahead, both the designer and CIVRO hope that residents will continue to enjoy the views of changing seasons, finding happiness, security, and a sense of healing in their connection to nature and the comfort of their home.
